Being Mental Health – Consumer Peer Worker Forum

Challenge:

BEING – Mental Health Consumers approached Spark Up to provide merchandise and branded materials for their 2021 Consumer Peer Workers Forum. BEING – Mental Health Consumers is the independent, NSW peak organisation speaking with and for people with lived/living experience of mental health issues and emotional distress. Many peers in the organisation have, or have suffered from, mental health illnesses themselves. So the brief was to raise awareness of BEING – Mental Health Consumers at the forum PLUS provide some fun, colourful, calming merch that can also play an important role in assisting those attendees who could or became distressed and needed something tactile to distract or soothe them through the forum.

Solution:

To raise brand awareness at the event, the delegates were given BMH branded tote bags which contained a BMH branded stainless steel drink bottle, an aqua blue coloured pen to match the branding, a pad and pencil set that had bright colour pencils and a silicone straw that bends around and sits inside a container. Additional items were situated around the venue for giveaways on the day. Caps, bright coloured sunglasses in 4 colours, puzzle key rings to play with, stress balls in 4 colours, mint cards with BMH branding and best of all, an assortment of plush toys – koalas, pigs, crocs , kiwis, lions, dogs all dressed in either light blue or orange shirts with full colour transfer branding of the BMH logo & URL.

Lastly, we also provided branded tee shirts and hoodies for the staff to wear as well branded lanyards with individual name tag inserts and branded hand sanitisers for the event. We worked with the client to come up with a range of items that would allow for maximum brand exposure and also could be used as therapy tools and stimulants. The Being Mental Health logo has 3 colours so we needed items that would allow for multi colour print and that would make the bright logo really pop and stand out.

Result:

All of the items at the Consumer Peer Workers Forum were received with huge compliments. The tactile items such as the plush soft animals, stress ball and puzzle keyrings were actually utilised as intended on the day, as tools for calming & comforting any attendees that were anxious or feeling uneasy. The event was a huge success and the client was extremely happy with the merchandise and the discussion afterwards about how bright, fun and cuddly the merch was.
